Yiwu Shugang Expressway construction begins

Yesterday morning, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Yiwu Shugang Expressway project was held, marking the official start of the construction of a key project with a large investment amount in the history of transportation construction in our city. After completion and operation, the Shugang Expressway will be included in the national expressway network and implemented with unified management of expressways. Li Yifei, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Cheng Tao, Chairman of the Provincial Communications Group, attended the groundbreaking ceremony and delivered speeches.

The Yiwu Shugang Expressway starts from the Hangjin Quzhou Expressway, passes through Houzhai Street, Suxi Town, Industrial Park, Choucheng Street, and Sansanli Street, and ends at the Yongjin Expressway. The main line is 21.659 kilometers long, with six lanes in both directions and a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The total estimated investment for the project is 5.606 billion yuan, including construction and installation costs of 3.4 billion yuan. The construction difficulty of the project is high, with many large-scale interchanges and a total of 6 interchanges. The proportion of bridges and tunnels is high, accounting for 86.3% of the project volume. At the same time, it also needs to cross the Hangzhou Changsha high-speed railway and the Shanghai Kunming railway, which requires high requirements for railway construction. This project is also the first time that our city has adopted the BT model for construction, and the construction unit is the Provincial Communications Construction Group.

In his speech, Li Yifei first congratulated the official start of construction of the Shugang Expressway on behalf of the city's four leadership teams, and expressed gratitude for the support and assistance of provincial-level relevant units, as well as the support of all sectors of society and the people along the route. He said that the Yiwu Shugang Expressway took only 17 months from proposal to groundbreaking, which fully reflects the spirit and efficiency of Yiwu. The commencement of construction of the project will further optimize the urban spatial layout, improve the collection and distribution capacity of Yiwu Port, accelerate the construction of our city's international land port, and have important strategic significance for urban congestion control, urban pattern expansion, and the construction of the Silk Road New Area. Li Yifei hopes that relevant departments and units will continue to care about and support engineering construction, make all work more solid, rapid, and beautiful, work together to create the pride and speed of Yiwu, and contribute to the transformation and development of the city.

Cheng Tao stated that the Provincial Communications Construction Group will adhere to civilized construction and safe production, improve the quality assurance system, strengthen planning management and process control, ensure project quality and progress, and strive to build the Yiwu Shugang Expressway into a high-quality project.
